Is there enough to keep us busy for 2 days?
Any 'must do / see's'?
I'm thinking a bus over to Ile de Re for one day.
Hire bikes and ride along the coast another day.
Third day explore the city.
Suggestions much appreciated.

LOADS to keep you busy, depending on what you like doing.
A friend has an apartment there, so we go every year for a week. We always get a pass for the bus/train and just get off at every stop and explore.
Ille de Re is gorgeous, and we have cycled here a number of times. Get the bus and pick up hire bikes at terminus.
La Rochelle is beautiful. The 'Twin Towers' and beach walk are lovely, with lots of stops for ice cream and coffee.
There is a flea market on Saturdays near the old port that's worth a visit.
There is a stop along the train line that has a another wonderful market - can't remember the name of it, will get back to you.
If you like dipping in the sea, beware. La Rochelle is particularly rocky getting in and out......🤕

Angeloume sur Mer for market. And beach. And food..... so jealous😅

@Fartooold thanks so much! You've given me just the nudge I need to get it booked 🙂

Stay on Ile de Re and get the bus back to visit La Rochelle.

There’s an Odalys site in Rivedoux Plage with a pool.
Hire bikes and visit La Flotte and Saint Martin de Re.

We had a few days there in Autumn 2023 and found it a lovely place. Loads of places to eat and loved watching all the people go by on bikes, scooters, segways, you name it!

Ile de Re is lovely. We also enjoyed a boat trip to Fort Boyard!
