I know the Suffolk coast already. But was thinking about going north, (cumbria? north yorks) somewhere off beaten track... Any thoughts gratefully accepted.

Nothumberland is beautiful, and so is a lot of N Wales. (I would pass on Cumbria iiwy )

Have a look at Barmouth - just S of the Lleyn peninsula - I haven't been but it looks fab and is v popular.

Or Rhosneigr on Anglesey?

As you're looking for somewhere N I guess you (luckily) won't have considered Milliways' Porthemmet

Hi TDW. I would recommend the Pembrokeshire coastline and also the North Wales coastline.

tortoiseSHELL · 28/04/2008 20:39

Pembrokeshire or Northumberland definitely.

Spent a great midweek break last year at the Haven site in Pwllhelli in a Scandenavian pine lodge. We were able to take early morning walks down to a secluded beach which was great. Also enjoyed trips to Anglesey and Snowdonia. Beautiful scenery.

another vote for the Llyn Peninsula N. Wales. Stacks of quiet unspoiled beaches in their own coves - about 8 in a very small space of land, each with some amenitites. Beautiful light and small villages.

Another vote for Northumberland. It is usually dry, if not warm but lets face it May in the UK is not going to be tropical anywhere!
