Holiday cost

We have booked a 4 bedroom lodge for 6 adults and 3 children.
Families are - 2 adults+2kids (2 rooms), 2 adults + 1 child (sharing a room) and 2 adults (one bedroom)

How should the cost be split?

I think divide the cost by 4 and we pay 2 quarters as we are the bigger group. Then the other 2 groups pay a quarter each.
Dh thinks we should all pay a third.

Thoughts?

I'd split it per room. I think trying to pay a third would make you sound cheap.

Hoppy1985 · 21/09/2024 18:06

I think it's fairest to do it on a pay by room basis

MiddleAgedDread · 21/09/2024 18:07

Per room

I've been on similar breaks except all 3 couples had dc (2, 2 and 4). We just found places big enough to fit us all and split the cost in 3.

Your way is fairest as you’re occupying 2 of the 4 rooms

FlippityFloppityFlump · 21/09/2024 18:11

Your DH is being cheeky. You are using 50% of the rooms and even if counting people, you are nearly 50% of the people. You should pay half

kitsuneghost · 21/09/2024 18:11

Yes. You are right. Per room.

BiscuitlyBoyle · 21/09/2024 18:15

Per room but is there a charge for the breakfast etc for the children. If I was one of the two child free adults I might be annoyed at subbing the children.

It does depend slightly on the age and relationship too. If all the children are under 11 or so or if they are 17. And if the two adults with out children are 21 year olds just starting out or the grandparents of the children. Grandparents are more likely to be willing to subsides their grandchildren, for example.
