Boston - Never been, help with choosing accommodation

I have recently submitted an application for Boston Marathon and if I am successful, I will be travelling out in April.

I will be travelling from the UK, probably direct with British Airways to Boston Logan.

No clue about hotels or anything like that but I've started to look for a twin room, but most seem to just have double rooms rather than twin.

I suppose what I'm asking for is where is good to stay if you were to recommend somewhere in Boston?

Any advice appreciated. Thank you!

We have stayed in the Marriott in Copley Place a couple of times which is a huge Marriott connected to a shopping centre. It also has a train station (Boston Back Bay) beside it so handy if you want to take a trip anywhere (we arrived there from NYC). If you are flying BA then maybe look at booking hotel through them too as there are sometimes good deals. I think also, then it counts as a package holiday which has extra protection.

oops, I missed your post where you've actually already booked. Have a lovely time. Boston is lovely.

What hotel in the Seaport? We stayed in the Homewood Suites by Hilton in the Seaport last August. The hotel itself was great but it was a good 30 minute walk from there to more central Boston - and there aren’t many restaurants yet in the Seaport (there are some but they are pricey).

There are plenty of hotels on the waterfront with Seaport in its name.

A couple of miles from the finish line.

Congratulations OP! We were there this April for Boston Marathon and stayed at Seaport hotel. There are plenty of places to eat there and very easy to get to town centre by T line or Uber (cheap and quick). Most hotels do carb loading nights a night before and offer shuttle service to the park. Seaport is super close to the airport, took about 15 min in a taxi. Make sure you add plenty of hills to your training 😅

Ooh, thanks for the tips @Mozartinmyfanjo!

I'm fairly confident I chose the right place to stay.

Oooh. Go to Yvonne’s on Winter Place. Don’t google too much about it. We were really close and went twice. Both times we didn’t have a reservation but turned up early.

Second Ames and also Fairmont Copley Plaza.

It's patriots day the day of the marathon so the centre Boston will be buzzy on the Monday evening.

TizerorFizz · 27/09/2024 22:34

I thought the OP wanted to be near the marathon finish line? Oh well….

Ginmonkeyagain · 28/09/2024 07:31

TBH Boston is quite small and has decent metro system so it doesn't really matter.

We stayed in Somerville and it was perfectly fine.

TizerorFizz · 28/09/2024 21:33

Well yes but that wasn’t the question.

We're a little over 2 miles from the finish line. That's near enough for us, but thanks.

We stayed in the Aloft in Seaport. It was great. We walked on the waterfront and went to the modern art museum. You can also walk into south Boston (Southie) and found some affordable restaurants there.

I liked the Paul Revere house.

Ginmonkeyagain · 29/09/2024 16:56

The Modern Art Museum is great - brilliant shop as well!
