Villa holiday inspiration.

We are looking to book a villa holiday for after my kids finish their exams next summer. We haven't really done this kind of trip before, but it's going to be affordable as we can go before the schools break up. We've been talking and dreaming about it for years, but can't decide where to go! Kids are older teens and we want our own private pool, option to go snorkeling, access to good food including choices for a pescartarian and sunshine. Inspire me please!

Croatia! I'm not a foodie so can't comment on that, however, the crystal clear water and sunshine are enough of a pull for me. Boat trips, open water swimming, kayaking, snorkelling, island hopping... Amazing!

The Algarve. Lots of villas to choose from, lots of fish and seafood, and watersports

Another vote for Croatia. The bit of coast between Brela and Gradac (know as the Makarska Riviera) is especially good for snorkelling. We stayed in Tucepi and saw sea kayaking and SUPs, and while we were in Makarska itself we saw parasailing and tubing.

Menorca could fit the bill. There are many resorts with villas, and plenty of coves for snorkelling. Fornells in the north of the island is good for snorkelling, and fantastic for fish restaurants, with several along the pretty harbour front.

Kas in Turkiye. I can give details of a local villa rental company we have used.

Another vote for Croatia! We had a villa holiday this summer/ 14 nights in a large villa with its own pool. Beautiful crystal clear sea with loads of fish. Boat trips to islands and sightseeing in Dubrovnik. It was honestly stunning. We are very well too, loads of fish and seafood. We used Croatia gems and stayed in zaton bay (the one on Dubrovnik riviera- there is another zaton in Croatia)

Ooh @Jemimapuddleduk we are staying in Zaton bay next week . We are hiring a car but have been recommended to get Uber into Dubrovnik rather than drive. Would you agree with that? And did you do any boat trips directly from Zaton ? Thank you .

Thank everyone for your ideas, will be looking at Croatia holidays more this weekend. Menorca was somewhere else we’d considered, love the med! Would also like your recommendations for Turkey @Rebootnecessary, we have never been there but do enjoy the Turkish cuisine.

Aaaaw I hope you love it! Yes parking in Dubrovnik is shocking so get an Uber. We got an island boat tour from zaton bay (just by kanoba capo restaurant) and a private speed boat tour from there too. Our favourite eatery was Ankora but kanoba capo also good. If you follow the path round from the front, past the playground there’s a lovely pebbly beach with gorgeous clear water, great for snorkelling.

And hire car is a great idea, we used the car to visit some other small beaches and explore up the coast. Roads are fairly quiet and felt safe driving around.
