What country is your favourite?

To balance out another thread on AIBU (which is fascinating and useful, no hate here) let's have your favourite country so far out of all the countries you've visited (list them so we can see what you're comparing to), when did you visit and what was so good about it.

I'll start.

So far I've visited 24 countries: New Zealand, Australia, Tonga, Rarotonga, Malaysia, Thailand, Hong Kong, Macau, Singapore, Panama, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Peru, Mexico, Barbados, Dominican Republic, USA, England, Scotland, France, Spain, Portugal, Morocco.

Favourite: England. Best food, cosy pubs, stunning countryside, polite people who know how to queue, nice beaches in Cornwall, best city (London).

Second favourite: Barbados. Stunning water colour, great surf, very friendly people, good manners, stunning beaches. Just very hot.

Places I never want to go to in my life ever again are Jamaica and Thailand, both of which I hated!

Favourite places: Italy, and the Maldives, also mallorca. And Scotland which reminds me of NZ which is where I grew up.

I've visited 51 counties across 6 continents.

Favourites are Mexico, Thailand and Greece. Love love love.

Greece, The Maldives and Singapore are probably my top 3.

A big shout out to Italy though.

I’ve travelled a fair amount, lived abroad, but it’s probably only 30 or so countries, letting myself down compared to some on this thread!

I loved India and especially the Himalayas. You can’t get bored in India, the people, the religion, food! The colours, the noise, I just loved it.

Austria is my favourite country to ski in, I also really like Bavaria.

my Fave part of America is the Keys, just stunning and has incredible sea food and very friendly people.

I've been to 57 countries, by coincidence I counted yesterday!
My favs are Jamaica and Thailand

In Jamaica we were told not to leave the hotel as they’d had an upsurge in gang crime in our area! Security guards everywhere. But to be fair the hotel and beach were stunning, people super friendly and the food was amazing. But I do like to explore a place so that was disappointing!

I've been to England, Wales, Scotland, the Republic of Ireland, mainland Spain, mainland France, mainland Italy, mainland Portugal, three of the Canary Islands, Corsica, Sicily, Sardinia, Majorca, Madeira, Crete, Cyprus, St Lucia, Australia, Canada and the USA.

But my favourite country? I can't pick one.

My favourite country is Thailand. We used to visit a lot when we lived in Singapore. My Europe favourite so far is Greece .

As an English person that's really nice to hear. It's far from perfect but I feel lucky to live here.

Thank you for some England love on this thread, we receive very little positivity as a nation.
I adore Austria, it's like a fairy tale.

Have visited so many countries,shall count later but Canada, Spain and Croatia are my favourite holiday destinations.

51 countries, some I've lived in, & some for extended periods of time.
I'm English, & despite its many faults, I love England.
Some parts more than others of course !

Probably Italy.

Although I LOVED the Norwegian Fjords.

I’ve been to England, Scotland, Spain, Cyprus, Turkey, France, Italy, Greece, Romania, Ukraine, Portugal, Morocco, Finland, Germany, Poland, Czech Republic, India, Hungary and Ireland.

Been to most of these more than once and different areas. I think I’d say my favourite is Turkey. Italy is beautiful too. I don’t think I’d go back to Morocco (have only been once so could be the area we went to, wasn’t a holiday resort) but would happily go back to all the others.

Italy for me (although I'm not as well-travelled as many of you)
Friendly people, amazing food, beautiful sights.

Barbados - the vibe, the people, the food, the beaches

Canada - the scenery and the people

Croatia - the quality of the hotels and generally better behaved Brits abroad!

Majorca - went once, hideous, awful place, never go back

Portugal - went once, was ok, never go back

Lanzarote - went once,nice enough

Cyprus - 20 times, love it, go every year
