Groupon mystery holidays

Thinking about booking a mystery holiday deal on Groupon and wanted to get some advice from those who have done it before. It sounds almost too good to be true, so I have a few questions:

  • did you get a good destination to travel.
  • What was included in the deal? Did it cover flights, accommodation, meals, or anything else?
  • How was the accommodation quality? Any guarantees about hotel star ratings or amenities?
  • Were there any hidden fees or extra costs that came up, like taxes or baggage fees?
  • What was the refund or cancellation policy in case your plans changed?
  • How much control did you have over the trip details? When did you find out where you were going?
  • Were there any reviews or feedback that helped guide your decision? How was the overall experience?
  • What was the reputation of the travel provider or company arranging the trip?
  • Any fine print or legal terms you’d suggest watching out for?

Would love to hear your experiences and any tips! Thank you in advance.

I’ve booked a mystery hotel before but never a mystery holiday. Is there another forum with reviews where y out can get hints of destinations? It’s likely to be the places that haven’t sold out so possibly not great!

My hotel was good but I was able to specify 4* Los Angeles and I found a forum which said it would be one from a set list and they all looked good.

Normally groupon tells you the provider of the deals. Is it a travel agent? Something like Love Holidays

@roses2 and @ShinyAppleDreamingOfTheSea that's great to know. I will google it and see if any reviews there.

Don't do it. The price advertised isn't what you'll pay. Want to go from a specific
airport, extra charge. Dates not available but you can change hotel, extra charge. Want to arrive at a decent time ,extra charge. Etc etc etc.

A lot of people find it cheaper to do it yourself with a budget airline

I can't help but worry that anyone asking loads of questions isn't the target audience for this sort of deal.

I haven't done it myself (I too am a question asker and wouldn't like the uncertainty!!) but some friends did and had a great time in Scandinavia, I can't recall exactly where. They're not the type to worry about details so it was perfect for them. I think the point is, you book and go.

@Chewbecca yes sure I just put the questions up and not looking for each one to be answered. Just trying to get her some insights from others experiences :) thank you
