December weekend break - but not necessarily Christmas markets

any ideas for a long weekend in December? Happy to visit a Christmas market but not looking for this to be the main reason to visit!

Amsterdam was lovely in December. We did a pancake boat canal cruise after dark and it was beautiful cruising past and under all the Christmas lights. amsterdamlightfestival.com/en

Prague is absolutely beautiful and would be quite magical in December.

Budapest is on my list to do one Christmas

Bath if you want UK. It doves have a Christmas market but we didn't go-it was just generally magical at that time of year enough. Plus Roman baths and we also went to the spa with the rooftop pool at dusk which was lovely.

Cities we did in December (my birthday month):

Lisbon
Bruges
Prague
Berlin
Hamburg and Lübeck

Bath - nice but the weekend we went two years ago was also an Open Day at one of their universities and the hotel prices went through the sky. Not sure if it is big enough for more than one or two days unless you want to add the spa and an afternoon tea or similar.
I would book myself in a Cotswolds hotel with a fireplace and make a day trip to Bath.

We enjoyed a weekend in Copenhagen in December. There were Xmas markets but lots of other things too. Baltic though, dress warmly!

Bruges is beautiful, especially when the Christmas market and light festival is on.

I’m also trying to book a weekend way this winter but will start a separate thread so I don’t hijack this one!
