Thailand in June

DD16 is desperate to go to Thailand and I would love to go too, but realistically the best time for us to holiday is in June due to work committments. is this the monsoon season? We'd hate to be stuck indoors after travellling all that way. We're wondering about Khao Lak (sp?). What is the weather like there in June and is there much to see and do? DD would like to experience some of the culture, temples and elephant reserves.

Khao Lak is lovely but the secret to Thailand is to go where the weather is best during your trip- the different coasts are best at different times.

Audley Travel has an excellent guide on their website.

Khao Lak is amazing, beautiful beaches, amazing food and wonderful people.
Loads to see and do however in June the islands are closed, the sea mostly inaccessible for swimming, boats etc and weather although warm is hit and miss.
We go nearly every December and that is the perfect time, still can be a little rain but warm, islands open and all trips running.

the east coast islands are best in our summer. Koh Samui for example

We've been going march /April time which is supposed to be the start of their rainy season and so far have only had 2 days of rain in 10 years.
Monsoon season means it's hotter than normal with a chance of rain.

Even when it does rain it's like standing in a warm shower and you dry out in no time.
