Is it strange to offer to bring items from the UK?

We are going travelling to a remote area on the other side of the UK. One of the airbnb rooms we are staying in is hosted by a family of English background. Do you think it’s strange to ask if there’s anything small they would like brought from the UK? I was thinking like earl grey tea bags or hob nobs

Nah.... I wouldn't bother. Before you know it they'll be giving you a shopping list of what to bring.

Definitely do it. My cousin lives in NZ they would pay for anything (Marmite) you could bring them.

It's a nice thing to do. I agree about Earl Grey or Marmite.

My daughter took Pimms to Lithuania 😁

I'd just take something as a little surprise rather than take requests.

longdistanceclaraclara · 10/09/2024 22:34

No I wouldn't. I'm paying to stay there.

I think this is a really nice idea and if I were them I would love you for this! You could manage it a bit and say you have space to add one extra thing in your suitcase - what’s the thing they miss the most? Or like PP said just take a surprise!

Hello from the woman who once lugged TimTams and Vegemite to Crete Grin. I would. There’s nothing like a taste of home.

Obeseandashamed · 10/09/2024 23:07

I think this is a really lovely idea and your hosts would likely thank you for it. X

Psychologymam · 10/09/2024 23:08

That is so lovely and kind! I think it will be so appreciated!

BarbaraHoward · 10/09/2024 23:09

I think that would be very kind of you. You could phrase it as "I have a small amount of room in my suitcase..." just in case you get a request for a weekly shop. Or specifically offer to get one thing.

Percy pigs and whotsits! And a big bar of dairy milk
