Travel beach towels?

Are those travel/ microfibres beach towels worth it to save space/ weight when holidaying abroad?
Taking the kids away to Majorca for our first Time flying and not sure if it's worth it? Have they improved since those chamois leather blue ones of my backpacking days?!

I have a sewing machine, it's a straight line - I might have a go.

@Chersfrozenface the ones I’ve got look a bit awkward for cutting the tassels off but if you’re handy with a sewing machine you could snip the majority of the length off and just sew the edges in if that makes sense? I can’t sew but I can visualise what I mean 😂

Do the Turkish/hammam towels dry off just as quickly as the microfibre/micro towelling type ? Or are they slower as they are cotton?

I feel they are like drying yourself with a tea towel instead of a terry towelling one. They get really wet quite quickly I find.

They are obviously thinner than your average bath towel at home, but I find they are perfectly adequate for most cases, and will also dry out quickly, particularly in you're in the heat.

I don't find that at all. They're big for starters.

Hmm. Might buy one and give it a go. I expect it will be useful for something even if I end up with something else as a travel towel.
