Best short getaway for big birthday

A friend and I are both celebrating BIG birthdays over the next couple of months, and we're looking at getting away for a night or two (or three) to relax and celebrate together.

Initially we thought spa break, but we're open to all ideas - our only stipulation is that we want separate bedrooms so we can snore to our hearts' delight, and realistically, it'll be early November. Other than spa breaks, what else could we do that will give us plenty of time to chat, relax, chat, relax, drink, eat and chat more...?

Airbnb/lodge/cottage near the sea/a lake/in a city/middle of nowhere
Hotel with spa facilities
Spa
Short break to somewhere abroad like Morocco which, it turns out, is cheaper than two nights at a lot of spa...

Budget up to £600 each - does anyone have any wonderful recommendations?

Check out flights from your nearest airport because there are groups on FB who tell one another about “Extreme day trips from (airport name.)

So, for example folks fly to Copenhagen for the day (v early start!) Or slightly different Thursday to Monday in Malaga. That might be fun.

I feel like I’d appreciate a lovely cottage somewhere beautiful, on the seafront, with a fireplace, with a pub to walk to in the evening or somewhere you could get a takeaway.
I reckon this would lend itself well to strolls, chatting, drinks, food, chats, sleep, eat, chat…
I have a wonderful friend I don’t get to spend enough time with, every year we book a premier inn half way between where we live (a 5 hour drive from each other) and bunker down for a couple of nights - we leave during the days for eating and a bit of wandering but the best part is it’s just us, no husbands or kids, we revert to acting like teenagers and it really fills my cup!

Never been but I might try Budapest.

Depends where you live maybe a city break in (lots of nice food, coffees, cocktails chats Edinburgh, London or similar).

Or do you have any hobbies you might enjoy spending time doing. Sewing, painting, cooking or yoga retreat.

Perhaps a blustery autumn break in a nice hotel in Scotland, Northumberland, Yorkshire to blow away the cobweb.

I had a weekend (two nights) in Milan in January this year for less than what a weekend in Manchester would have cost. There's a highly recommended spa there that I'd have loved but I didn't know about it until I'd left! We stayed in a Hilton a ten minute metro away from the city centre and the Duomo. I can't remember the exact price, but it was absolutely within your budget- I'd just recommend not visiting the tourist traps for meals!

These are all great suggestions, thank you! We're in the Midlands, so close to everything and nothing at the same time!

I'll investigate cottages with sea views as that is definitely tempting - especially with a pub nearby!

Have you been to the west off ireland? In particular Westport mayo?
So beautiful fantastic walks. Wonderful restaurant s and pubs plus the hotels do really good deals for breaks,
Easy to fly there from the midlands.
