Crete weather in July/August

As the title says really - what is the weather likely to be in Crete in July/Aug? I've googled and it said late 20's which I'm surprised about - expected hotter. Just returned from wall to wall sunshine in Rhodes so worried Crete next year but might not be as reliable.

The average temperature over the last ten or twenty years won't give much indication of t he likely temperature next year - climate change you know

We had blistering heat in Crete in May one year.

DecafDodger · 03/09/2024 19:03

they must mean average over 24h. You can look up actual temperatures, this July it was 28-32, last year about the same, except for a couple days of 35-37 degrees.

We went 15-23 July and it was 35c.

I spent 2 weeks in Crete in august. It was 40c everyday. I spent the whole time in the sea or in the shade. Far too hot.

Got it! Thanks all. I had presumed it was very similar to Rhodes so was surprised to read only mid to late 20's

Crete in high summer?? Bloody hot! Really hot,

No1HolidayPlanner · 04/09/2024 16:46

We were there in August 2021.. it was 45 degrees for 3 of the days. It is hot hot 🥵

Aussieland · 04/09/2024 16:48

I would anticipate at least mid 30s. It will be brutal and may not be suitable for doing anything except lying in the shade, occasionally flopping i to the pool! Not great for kids or sightseeing

DreadPirateRobots · 04/09/2024 17:01

I just got back from there and it was in the 30-35 range every day. I'd expect 30-40 daytime in July/Aug.
