Best, traditional European Christmas market

I’d love to go to a Christmas market in Europe. I’ve searched MN, but not really seen that much info on them.

I’d like to go Nov/ Dec and go somewhere cold, with a very traditional Christmas market, lovely things to eat and drink and buy gorgeous items (no tat).

Clearly I’ve been reading The Christmas Chronicles 😝

Also, somewhere we can do a bit of sightseeing, good food and a nice hotel.

Or am I too late? 😢

Strasbourg's market is huge and there's something for everyone. Plus you can then get to Baden-Baden by train for a German market. The smaller market in Kaysersberg, south of Strasbourg, is also lovely.

However, Strasbourg "Capitale de Noël" is very well-known among French people, so accommodation for December books up fast. Avoid 15–19 December as the travelling circus of the European Parliament will be in town taking up most of the hotels.
