Help! Inspiration needed

Myself and 2 best friends turn 40 next year and agreed to mark the occassions with a holiday.

For years we discussed Vegas but other two are worried about runaway costs so I need inspiration for alternatives with below criteria

Timeframe: 5days to 1 week anywhere from Oct-Dec
Budget: Ideally £1,200 ceiling

Both friends are fairly indifferent. I'm the organiser and they happily go along but freely feed in their input. 1 is very social, usually goes to blackpool a few times a year and said 'I'd be happy with a trip to Benidorm'. The other really isn't fussed and would be happy with anything from a city break, to skiing, to beach holiday.

I'd like something a bit different to Benidorm (especially as 1 friend does those holidays all the time), whilst still respecting what all friends enjoy.

Anyone with any inspirations for budget/exciting destinations? In my head I've got prague, gran canaria but want no real feel, just want something exciting!

Sorry for the rambling.

I think you need a bit more input from your friends. It's unfair that the responsibility of a good holiday should be dumped on you.

Tbf they've always been hard to motivate. Usually once a year we meet up in a random UK city, but if I didn't organise it wouldn't happen. They're both really social but never take the initiative (I live near 1, the other lives other side of the country so this is the best chance to see each other) .

I'm happy to organise just want everyone to have a really good time.

As long as the holiday involves good drinking spots and isn't too expensive both will be pleased. However, I want something to get really excited about with a bit of culture.

You should be able to get something in Miami within budget and it will be warm enough. It’s probably got the best food (and party) scene in Florida.

Is the budget to include flights?

The Christmas markets in Cologne are wonderful and start in mid November I think. You can spend a whole weekend visiting the different markets, lots of cafes bars and street food. There is also a great city-run thermal spa/leisure centre where you can sit in an outdoor hot tub all year round.

Yes, budget to include flights. Initially I found flights to vegas for £300 and £200 for accommodation well in advance but the other 2 suspect cost of drinks/food etc would require spending of £300 + each day.

I agree, and the accommodation won't be great for £200.

You could probably get a cruise
From Southampton in budget for 4-5 nights for something different.
