Would you go there with a 3 and a 9 year old? Just that really.

Yes. We’ve been several times when our kids were that age and a little older. It’s a magical place. It’s great for pottering around on the beaches, rockpooling and taking the inter island ferries for day trips. If you stay in St Mary’s it’s very easy to visit Tresco, St Martin’s and Bryher. You can hire bikes or golf carts on St Mary’s, ideal for exploring plus plenty of boat trips to sea the seals and birdlife. Accommodation can be a little tricky to get during school holidays as many places give previous guests first dibs on the same week the following year but get yourself in wait lists with local agents.

100%. We visited a few times when ours were that sort of age and it was brilliant. Like being back in the 70s/80s, really chilled vibe, traditional feel, safe and family friendly. Loved it.

Isles of Scilly are lovely and that's a good age for the children, they are like going back in time and very safe. Accomodation can be pricey and/or get booked out especially on islands other than St Mary's but easy to get boats around the island. Tresco is lovely with it's beautiful gardens, beaches and red squirrels, we stayed one night there but can do as day visit. Can canoe as well. Wildlife boat trips. Can swim with seals in St Martins.
