Kerala or Goa over Christmas with kids

Does anyone have any experience to share of Kerala or possibly Goa with kids? We would be looking at going over Christmas and New Year with our kids who will be 5 and 8.

We live in a warm country (South Africa) near the beach so while we are looking forward to some sun sea and sand it is more about experiencing a different culture and environment while still having a relaxing holiday. DS loves animals and my daughter and I would love some temples, palaces etc. The kids are a bit picky with food, but DH and I are quite foodie.

Would love any tips and advice you can share!

Kerala is about nature and temples - tea plantations, boating on lakes/backwaters etc. Some beautiful palaces nearby as well. Goa is about beaches and old Portuguese churches. I think you will enjoy Kerala more based on your expectations? @ppaaWWss

I agree with the above. I love Kerala for the food and nature. I did do a beach stop in kerala and the beach was covered in human faeces and the water was unsuitable for swimming.
