Hi, this year has been a disaster for holidays, we might squeeze a week in the UK in October, but nothing planned. I want to make next year better!

My DP gets standard holiday allowance for the calendar year. I am self-employed in hospitality so struggle to take bank holidays and normal school holidays off (though Feb half term might be ok).

We’ve got two children, DS aged 7 and a baby that turns 1 in Jan 2025. We’re not hot weather, sat by the pool people, we like places to visit whilst on holiday.

We’re not high earners, but I’m willing to budget and save! UK & Europe would be our limit. (Normal default location is Devon & Cornwall).

Essentially, due to me working a lot of weekends, we really need to carve out more family time!

What would you do??

In Feb half term, you really need to pick a location with lots of indoor activities like Center Parcs or Bluestone. Bluestone is far cheaper than CP and has lots of free activities such as swimming, soft play and inflatable play in The Hive (indoors), water play, sand play, play areas, foam pieces play in the Serendome (indoors), outdoor play areas, and walks into the woods and around the lake. There are lots of places to eat so you wouldn't have to self cater all the time, childcare and a spa!
