Anyone know about buses to Versailles?

We are off to France soon and will be staying in Le Port - Marly en route with the intention of visiting Versailles. I’m trying to work out if it is easier to go from our hotel to Versailles by bus or just take the car and pay for parking.

I think I’ve found that the EX01 will take us but want to check that my rudimentary French is correct (since I’ve not got my laptop with me just now and so am unable to translate the page in full) and that we want to buy a return ticket (Billet Origine-Destination)* *for €6 each as detailed on this page?

If that’s correct, can you buy the tickets on the bus and do you have to pay exact cash or are credit/debit cards ok to pay with too?

You can also get the train- there’s theres the fancy fast ones that take ten minutes.

I’m pretty sure we got the train when we went and it was a short walk to the palace.

From what I can see, the nearest train is about 25 mins away but the bus is 5 minutes so I’m discounting going by train but thanks for making me check out that option too.

check out rome2rio.com for times/prices and routes

The station is Versailles Chateau Rive Gauche, a ten minute walk from the place according to Apple Maps.

I’d been using the Moovit website but I’ve double checked on Rome2Rio and it’s giving the same results. From where we are staying, it is a 35 minute bus ride but less than 5 minutes walk to the bus stop compared to 25 minutes walk to the train station (plus whatever time to retrace our steps because we got lost navigate there) and 10 minutes on the train). Thanks for confirming the station too 🙏

I’ve downloaded the iledefrance-mobilites app so will use that to buy tickets.
