Singapore is a city state so not sure what you are asking really. I have stayed in the orchard road area and it’s easy to visit everywhere by public transport. My dcs really enjoyed the zoo, night safari, gardens by the bay etc.
Malaysia - not a fan of KL. what about Penang or Malaysian Borneo- long houses, wildlife, national parks.
Thailand - Chiang Mai? Have been to Phuket a few times - north of the island which was quieter.

Twilightstarbright · 26/08/2024 15:42

What time of year are you going?

Kitkat1523 · 26/08/2024 16:02

Singapore is a city and a country all in one…that’s it🤷‍♀️

You might want to take a look at Sentosa Island. It has Universal Studios and other fun family stuff. Connected to the rest of Singapore by monorail. With the MRT it is so easy to get around.

Mybusyday · 26/08/2024 16:09

Singapore is beautiful! I highly recommend! Kuala Lumpa is lovely but I didn't really like the rest of Malaysia

Depends what you like. Beaches after the city, or adventure, sightseeing, calm...

A mix of everything. So sight seeing, some relaxation, some adventure.

Why dont you try indonesia? I think its the best compare to those countries. You can see dragon, pink beach, and many more. Please google raja ampat and also pink beach.

Femme2804 · 27/08/2024 23:54

Indonesia for sure!!!

Singapore, Malaysia or Thailand

Following because we’re planning a similar trip next year as well. We’ve been to Singapore, Malaysia (KL and Langkawi) and a few islands in Thailand plus Bangkok but this was all over 10 years ago before kids so this will be our first family trip to Asia.

We definitely want to go to Singapore but need to decide where else. One option since we currently live in Chicago with no direct flights to Singapore is to fly with Korean Air and spend a few days in Seoul then the rest in SG, or maybe a trip to KL or somewhere in Thailand from SG.

I will be interested to see what @justasmalltownmum decides. Sounds like a fun trip :).

Thanks this looks lovely. I hear a lot about Bali and mostly mixed reviews but your post is making me think outside of Bali to research other areas of Indonesia.

EnergeticTigerDad · 28/08/2024 03:43

Singapore and Langakawi resort
Or Singapore and Railay and/or Chaing Mai, Thailand
Done all of these and it's hard to go too wrong here

cariadlet · 28/08/2024 04:03

Loved Malaysia and Thailand. Lots to see and do in both.

Also loved Indonesia (visited a few of the islands) but if you're coming from the UK, it's a very long way - we got to KL (already long haul) and still had another flight to go.

If you go to Singapore, I'd combine it with Malaysia and just have a few days in Singapore.

Twilightstarbright · 28/08/2024 06:08

In the Easter holidays you need to avoid Chiang Mai as it’s burning season. It’s very hot in Bangkok- was 38c last april
when I went. Audley travel have great guides to which island for which time of year.

fWIW we went in April and had a great time but we all handle heat well and didn’t traipse around temples in the heat all day.

BeBopBeBop · 28/08/2024 06:47

@Ilovelifeverymuch Seoul is a fabulous city and brilliant for kids. I've lived in both and honestly would spend a few days in Seoul over Singapore any time.

Moving on to SE Asia I'd suggest Vietnam if you want more exploring but still some beaches, Thailand islands like Phuket or Koh Samui for more beachy, its also gets hotter then so coast is good, Malaysia maybe Penang or Lan Kwai.

Editing to add this link https://www.lightfoottravel.com/asia they have some great itineraries and ideas for inspiration

I’ve been to pink beach, and it really isn’t that pink! Nevertheless, Indonesia is def worth a visit.

Thanks I'll spend more time researching things to do in Seoul. It will also be more convenient travel wise as well.

Vietnam is another interesting country I will like to visit someday.

AgathaX · 28/08/2024 20:26

Malaysia is mixed, I really didn't like KL, but other parts, islands were good. Same with Thailand really. Vietnam was amazing though, I'd love to go there again.

AllTheDucks · 28/08/2024 20:35

I would spend time in Singapore doing busy stuff such as Universal Studios, Gardens by the Bay, Zoos etc, and then fly up to Thailand and spend time flopped on a beach in Koh Samui or Koh Yao Noi. Depends how active you are, though. Borneo's another option if you're more active and want to see wildlife.

KenAdams · 28/08/2024 20:39

Singapore, Sentosa, then over to Malaysia in one holiday. Best area to stay in Singapore would be around Raffles imo.

Seren78 · 28/08/2024 20:43

Best cities in Singapore? Have you done any of your own research?if you're going to 'do' Singapore maybe at least look it up🤷‍♀️

Ohdearyme72 · 28/08/2024 20:54

Singapore has no cities :-)
