Resort around Lisbon

We are looking at ideas for July 2025 and one is going near Lisbon for a week.

We want not a normal city break, more a resort a bit outside, ideally in a town and near the beach but with transport links to go sightseeing once or twice.

B&B is preferred, hence the need to be in a town with restaurants.

Cascais is lovely or Estoril - both have lovely beaches and restaurants and are a short train into Lisbon.
Channel 5 had a programme last night with Michael Portillo showcasing a short break in Lisbon - might be helpful.

Cascais or Estoril, Lisbon is lovely.

I agree Cascais or Estoril. You can walk along the coast from Haute Estoril to Cascais. Theres also a train that runs along the coast from Lisbon.
We loved the area and are going back in a month to stay in Lisbon and do some more exploring.

We went to Sesimbra in May on the advice of a Portuguese friend who lives in Lisbon. It’s very much a working town, and we loved it! There is a castle and you can easily get to the alentejo for the day from there. A great spot!

Caiscais is really lovely.

Another vote for Cascais. Visited a couple of weeks ago from Lisbon - it's 40 min on the train - and thought I'd enjoy being based there for a holiday.
