Is a week manageable with young kids to visit USA?

My elderly aunt, who has been very important to me, almost didn’t survive pneumonia last winter and lives in Florida. I’d like to visit her, and I have DC age 7 & 9. We could go for a week in Xmas holidays. We’ve just moved house and kids really want to have Xmas in the new house, so thinking of going Boxing Day. Anyone done just a week in USA with kids? Would it be a nightmare with their jet lag? I can’t go by myself as I’m a sole parent.

It'll be fine. We have done long haul for only a week. A week is better than nothing!

Where in Florida? They can't be enticed by Christmas on a beach and maybe the Kennedy space center?

I think it's completely fine to go for just a week. I've travelled a little with my dc and by the time they are seven and nine they will be able to manage the flight really well.

I testify my answer to be the truth.

It wouldn’t be worth the travel and expense to me ….all that way for 5 days really ( 2 travelling)

It wouldn't be worth the travel and expense to see a family member that you cared about who almost died?

Blimey.

Thanks, yes I’d get a direct flight to Miami and we’d be staying in Jupiter, which is only just about 90 mins up the coast. I think probably not Disney; we would focus on seeing family and spending a bit of time at the gorgeous beaches around there — I know it won’t be hot, but still nice for a walk and a play etc, Sounds like the jet lag is worse coming home, it’s helpful to have that in mind (it’s been so many years since I’ve done it).
