I'm thinking of maybe going to The Black Forest in September, or if not this year then next. Probably for 5 - 7 days. I'll be a solo traveller.
I'm thinking I'll want to hire a car won't I? I've never driven abroad before and feel anxious about it, but it's pretty much a necessity here I think? Besides, it'd be good to scratch it off my list of 'Things grown-ups do'!
Please can you give me an itinerary? What are the 'must-dos' and what's overrated? Any accommodation recommendations? It's tricky because on the one hand I'm pretty hard-up at the mo, but on the other I'm a princess who likes her comforts!
My German isn't great, but I can limp through the basic stuff - it would be amazing to stay somewhere where they'd let me limp and be patient about it rather than rolling their eyes and immediately switching to English!
I'd like to do some hiking but just a couple of hours here and there. I couldn't walk for more than about 2.5 hours without wanting to die! But I am keen to see some nature/waterfalls/red squirrels, all that good stuff, in spots that aren't overrun with tourists.
Anyway, if you've been, any tips and suggestions gratefully received!
