Dover to Calais- How early to get to the ferry port?

Getting a ferry from Dover tomorrow morning at 10 and I've seen loads of conflicting advice about how early we will need to get to Dover. Currently in a hotel that's 30 mins away if no traffic. Any tips?

Thanks

Also does anyone know how busy the seating is on the ferries mid summer, haven't been on a ferry in about 14 years, so feel like it's a new experience all over again.

What time does your check in close? I'd aim for at least an hour before that.

Yes the seating will be very busy but we've never not found seats. If you're doing Dover to Calais I wouldn't worry too much about it we always saw it as a chance to walk around a bit before our long onwards drive.

Thanks, check in closes at 9, just getting up & heading to breakfast now with the aim to leave the hotel around 7 ish, so hopefully plenty of time! I'm a leave as early as possible person, everyone else is much more relaxed!
