December holiday

Hello lovely people,

We are wanting to go away in early December for some sun. (2 adults)

ideally late 20s, relaxing holiday, pool, nice restaurants.

would we need to do a long haul flight to achieve this? Or I was thinking the Canary Islands might still be nice?

we don’t want to do any city break, Xmas market type holiday. More want a relaxing week summer holiday vibe but obviously in December.

if anyone has any ideas that would be so appreciated as our normal holidays are camping in Scotland so feeling a little out of depth.

thanks so much!!

It depends how hot you want it to be. The Canaries will be about 20oC +, but if you want guaranteed 25oC+ you will need to go further afield.

Cape Verde islands. Or Barbados. It's
Only 8 hours away lol.

Dubai

Oman - Muscat. Much less commercial than Dubai and a more chilled out vibe. And perfect weather in December.

Dubai

Was going to say Oman. I’d be tempted with Sri Lanka or Maldives too.

We’re looking for similar and will probably book Cape Verde.

We're going in early January - I would look further afield if you want decent weather - we did Lanzarote in February and it was cold and windy.

We're going to Costa Rica (I think) - but have done Barbados / Ghana and Thailand in January

Another vote for Muscat.

Cape Verde is perfect that time of year. It's a 6 hour flight, not much further than the canaries, but weather much better. Much closer than Caribbean though for a week. I can recommend the Rui Palace on Boa Vista, lovely hotel.

Am absolutely loving the mention of Muscat which has been my home since the late 70’s.

longdistanceclaraclara · 21/08/2024 21:01

@AnnieMcFanny I was there for a few years back in the 90s. Loved it and glad it is getting the recognition it deserves but kind of feel like I don't want to mention it at the same time!
