Applying nail varnish by the pool?

Acceptable or disgusting?

Not doing a manicure, just the nail varnish.

To your toe nails.

I think it’s fine.

NowImNotDoingIt · 20/08/2024 18:22

Acceptable. Toes are on view anyway, so what difference does it make?

What would even make it disgusting?

LesMisSaigon · 20/08/2024 18:24

Well, perhaps not if we are talking about a pool at the local swimming baths. 😃

CharlotteStreetW1 · 20/08/2024 18:24

It's fine to do I think, except it might dry wrinkly if it's really hot.

tellmewhenthespaceshiplandscoz · 20/08/2024 18:24

Seems like good use of time to me

RainbowZebraWarrior · 20/08/2024 18:24

I don't get how it could possibly be seen as disgusting? By that rationale, everyone having nail polish applied in nail bars is, too (the ones where they are in the middle of a dept store or shopping centre)

It smells a but, but at least outside in the fresh air it's less likely to trigger an asthma attack for me

Kevinbaconsrealwife · 20/08/2024 18:25

Absolutely fine.

TheClawDecides · 20/08/2024 18:25

Not sure I'd be able to muster up a thought one way or the other 🤷‍♂️

LoneHydrangea · 20/08/2024 18:28

Are we talking an outdoor pool? That’s fine.

DaughterNo2 · 20/08/2024 18:28

Grim, why on earth would you

DaughterNo2 · 20/08/2024 18:28

Grim, why on earth would you

Why is it grim?

StormingNorman · 20/08/2024 18:30

Slightly chavvy but not disgusting.

DinnaeFashYersel · 20/08/2024 18:31

Wouldn't bother me in the slightest

WickieRoy · 20/08/2024 18:32

Absolutely fine, why would it be disgusting? Confused

bergamotorange · 20/08/2024 18:32

Outdoor pool, fine but a bit unpleasant. Your feet are not something other people want to have drawn to their attention.

Indoor pool, no way due to the smell of the varnish, unless you are far from others.

tellmewhenthespaceshiplandscoz · 20/08/2024 18:42

It's possible to do this incredibly discreetly surely?!!! A couple of bottles and your feet can easily be drawn up to sit without drawing attention to yourself?.

RaininSummer · 20/08/2024 19:09

No idea why it would be grim or disgusting though not something I'm likely to do myself.

saveforthat · 20/08/2024 19:13

It never works if you put nail varnish on in the sun. It blisters. Wouldn't bother me in the slightest though if someone was painting their nails on holiday. Clipping them I might draw the line at.

Growlybear83 · 20/08/2024 19:14

Why is it disgusting? I would usually do anything like that in my room but I don't see what's wrong in painting your toenails if you're on a sunbed by the pool so long as you don't spill the varnish

abracadabra1980 · 20/08/2024 19:36

Fine by me.

Treesnbirds · 20/08/2024 19:57

Well put!

reluctantbrit · 20/08/2024 20:51

Depends. Do you plan to give yourself a full pedi? Then it's disgusting, nobody needs nail clipping or file dust.

Just polish? Just make sure your cover everything with a towel, I wouldn't appreciate having polish marks on the sun lounger I am using or on the tiles around the pool.
I would still think there are better places to do it.

Dilbertian · 20/08/2024 22:07

General sense seems to be that it's not a big deal.
