Is there such a thing in the UK? An upmarket CP, essentially? I am not aware of such a place, but DH is adamant it must exist! Grateful for tips.

Crieff Hydro in Scotland might tick a lot of your boxes.

cansu · 20/08/2024 13:53

What does he want that you can't get at Centre parcs?

elliejjtiny · 20/08/2024 13:55

I thought centre Parcs was the upmarket version

longdistanceclaraclara · 20/08/2024 14:00

Bluestone in Wales, Rettalack Cornwall?

CP is tired, overpriced for what it is and not luxury!

crumpet · 20/08/2024 14:03

Depends what you’re looking for. Gleneagles (but prices to match)? Celtic Manor offers quite a lot, plus Roman stuff to visit nearby.

SithLordMolly · 20/08/2024 14:04

Not Crieff Hydro!! (Maybe once upon a time but it's very rough around the edges these days).

SithLordMolly · 20/08/2024 14:05

Gleneagles is a good shout though.

Well, quite. Apparently not!

Much higher quality food / restaurant offering, fewer people (our fault for booking mid-Aug obviously) and a proper pool where it’s safe to leave younger ones (ours are 4 & 6, can swim but can’t be left to wander around a mini-water-park)…

You can’t leave kids that young in any pool alone!

Monket · 20/08/2024 17:52

Well, sitting on the side watching them and having a drink, rather than having to go down rapids / fight for space in the Lazy River etc. Somewhere with deck chairs. And outdoors ideally so it’s not so loud.

Surely these are most hot holiday abroad requirements?

An outdoor paddling pool in your back garden then in the recent hot weather :)
Or a splash pad somewhere. Weather has cooled down somewhat now so you’d need to go abroad.

cansu · 20/08/2024 18:06

Sounds like you want a villa, holiday cottage or appartnent abroad with a shared pool. Most people who go to centre parcs go for the slides etc and for family friendly restaurants. If you want upmarket restaurants and a smaller, calmer pool then you don't want a holiday village!

SmashingGemini · 20/08/2024 18:31

You want a cottage complex with outdoor pool.

I think every pool or center I have been to in this country insists on 1 adult in the water per 2 children under 8. Poolside supervision doesn't count.

I don't think you're likely to find the pool setup you want, without booking a cottage etc with a private pool.

Monket · 20/08/2024 19:21

Okay, well if we ignore the pool angle - it’s more the luxury accommodation plus activities and restaurants combination that we’re looking for.

Just book a National Trust cottage? Some of those are v swish.

beachmum1 · 20/08/2024 19:26

Four seasons Hampshire

Wishitsnows · 20/08/2024 19:28

I get what you mean Op but sadly don't know of one. I did see Potters resort but not been there and no idea what it's like. Could be similar to centre parcs.

Nw22 · 20/08/2024 19:28

Wilderness reserve has a lovely pool. Cabu by the sea is nice.

crumblingschools · 20/08/2024 19:33

CP is all about the pool and being able to be indoors! Did you not research it?

If you want more upmarket restaurants surely you book a hotel in a town/area that has upmarket restaurants

Cotswold water park?

Nw22 · 20/08/2024 19:34

@crumblingschools oh yes lower mill estate might suit you

RosesAndHellebores · 20/08/2024 19:34

We went to Centre Parks in about 2000. We thought it was awful. Posh Butlins. The accommodation was very utilitarian. Not our cup of tea.

Dressingdown1 · 20/08/2024 19:36

Chewton Glen in a tree house? Lovely, but very very expensive!
