Is there such a thing in the UK? An upmarket CP, essentially? I am not aware of such a place, but DH is adamant it must exist! Grateful for tips.

Well, quite. Apparently not!

Suggest Butlins.

(Nothing against Butlins BTW, I've never been, but Centre Parks is defo seen as more upmarket!)

I think you might be better booking a 5 star hotel with a pool, nice restaurants and kids club etc in an area with lots of nearby activities/day trips if real luxury is what you're after!

Moonfleet Manor?
Bedruthan?

brawhen · 20/08/2024 19:51

Gleneagles definitely as a UK option for this. They will probably arrange a few hours of nanny care too if you want.

Another Place in Lake District?

Not Crieff Hydro!! (Maybe once upon a time but it's very rough around the edges these days).

This!

Interesting that a few of the suggestions are in Scotland. We’re based in SE England and needed to avoid flying this time. Will look at some of the options in more detail - thank you.

I agree that a nice hotel / cottage in a suitable location would perhaps be a better fit. Was just wondering if there was some fancy UK holiday park I’d never heard of…

Try Spain or Portugal, sounds like he would prefer a 5* complex there

SuePreemly · 20/08/2024 20:20

Cotswold water park? That's terribly naice

whiteorchids44 · 20/08/2024 20:26

We have booked a house at Lower Mill Estate for next year. It looks like a quieter scene. It might not have all the activities that CP has but we are more interested in outdoor activities, restaurants, on-site spa, playground and soft play for the kids etc..

Surprised no one has said Soho Farmhouse. Surely that’s the main posh centre parcs??

ZoeyBartlett · 20/08/2024 20:27

Agree with others on Four Seasons Hampshire. If you have an Amex card book through them and you can get a 4pm check out so make a good long weekend.

orangetriangle · 20/08/2024 20:30

thinkfast · 20/08/2024 20:36

Are you looking for somewhere with lots of sporting activities too OP? I think you should look at some club med resorts.

GoFigure235 · 20/08/2024 20:37

Bovey Castle.

MJOverInvestor · 20/08/2024 20:37

Fritton Lake in Suffolk might hit the spot - there's a heated swimming pool as well as the lake https://www.frittonlake.co.uk/families/

No waterpark.

OP - we’ve been to lots of the places mentioned and the most upmarket IS centreparcs.
we just cook whilst there - take a meal for the first night and then Waitrose stuff for the next couple of days.
head to the water park bit early in the day.

For your age of children you might like this: https://tredethick.com/facilities-activities

I don’t think there is a more luxurious alternative to center parcs. The benefit of it is the activities on site and pool. I’d love center parcs with slightly nicer restaurants but that’s the compromise.

You are not going to get anywhere in the uk where a pool will find it acceptable for you to leave a 4 or 6yo in the water while you sit on the side. I actually think the pirate ship play areas at the centre parcs pools are probably better than a normal swimming pool for letting them crack on while you have a sit down.

Hand-feeding goats and hens, herding piggies, riding a pony, splashing in the pool… There’s loads to do outdoors and in.

Fowey Hall, Moonfleet Manor and others in the same chain (can't recall names) are nice. They are higher end hotels with activities for children rather than Center Parcs type complexes though.
