Hi everyone,
Just want to rant or some advice please!
Stayed at a house in the Peak District through booking.com for a night on Saturday, the house was and had a nice time, didn't spend much time in the apartment. Keys were in lock box etc self check in.
After we left at 11am yesterday, at 12.40pm I had a request to pay 'damages' of £200 for 'heavily soiled sheets and towels covered in fake tan and make up' and 'deliberately broken cupboard lock'
I am absolutely mortified, there is literally no way anything was heavily soiled, I didn't even have fake tan on! I don't even know what cupboard door they are referring to either, there was a cupboard by the front door which we never touched.
I have denied the damage payment which was the maximum they can take of £200, even if I had got a tiny bit of make up on a towel which wouldn't have come off, surely not even two hours after check out would they know if it had washed out. Stopped in 100's of hotels and a fair few apartments and never ever had this happen.
I will never book an apartment again, seems like booking.com are on our side but I am shocked, I never even received a message from the lady who owns the apartment (who lives in Australia) just a demand for payment for damages which never happened. No pictures provided or anything.
