After a (partially!) great trip away this summer with three other families, I'm interested in people's experiences of group holidays. We did a mixture of time in one big house, and in glamping sites where each family had their own cabin type thing. Do people have specific recommendations for places they've booked as multi-family groups?
Stuff that we liked/ worked well:
Catering in a group means we ate better than if we were just cooking for our own family, and we each only had to cook one evening.
The children looked after each other even more than we expected, so even with a couple of toddlers we got more downtime than usual.
We were in a bigger place than we'd ever have on our own - more freedom for kids, better facilities for us, etc.
We didn't have the hotel thing of not being able to do much once the kids were asleep - could put them upstairs and socialise with the other adults downstairs/ outside. And if they were being clingy we could keep them downstairs/ let them fall asleep on the sofa.
Stuff that we didn't like/ didn't work well:
Lots of noise from big groups of children charging around every morning.
Under-bathroomed for the big group in the house, and then under-spaced in the glamping site (our fault, should have booked a bigger cabin).
Occasional tensions over shared facilities/ approaches to things....could probably have dealt with by being a bit more organised to start with.
More driving than we should have allocated for a week's holiday (drove quite a long way down France and back).
