Amsterdam hotel with great public transport options

Hi

We (family of 3 with older teenage son) are heading off for a 3 night trip next month. We will be flying in and I am looking for a hotel that is easy to get to/from the airport and into Amsterdam quickly but will also allow us to maybe travel out to somewhere like Leiden if city life is too busy. Any help and suggestions will be most welcome.

We stayed at the A-train which is literally a 5 minute walk from the station. It's a bit quirky, and certainly not 5 star but was convenient, you can store luggage at either end of the stay and free breakfast cold buffet.

It’s a little way out of the city so it’s quiet at night. Easy train connections from airport and to town. There’s enough bars and restaurants near if you did want to go out on the evening but being the business district, it’s quiet enough to sleep well at night.

The Amsterdam North Holiday Inn at Motirkade is close to water taxis to Centraal station.

We always stay here - fabulous public transport links to the centre of Amsterdam and Schiphol. Appartement style hotel next to shops and restaurants. Bus 300 from schiphol is about 15 mins and is a transport hub for the rest of Holland.
