Ooh! I can help! We had the most amazing time there late sept last year.
highlights:
Chateau de La Rivière. Do the cellar tour. My 10yr old DS was extremely unimpressed until about 2mins in and then he was the one leading the tour he loved it so much. I did loads of research on the best vineyard tour to do and this was the top recommended one.
Dune du Pilat. What an awesome experience! Highly recommend.
You would need to hire a car for these 2 items but they are absolutely worth it.
Other than that, just wandering the old town is amazing. It’s such a beautiful place.
We stayed at Hotel Konti which I definitely recommend too. Central location and probably the best hotel bed I’ve ever slept in!
We all agreed it was an amazing weekend. Have the best time!

We stayed in a fabulous air bnb opposite the musee d’aquitaine. Stylish and homely and generous with the cleaning stuff (rare) - keep an eye out for it, if that’s your plan.

musee is absolutely worth visiting.
don’t eat near the centre of the town, it’s all crap. expensive rubbish. Seriously. We ate several times at a pub opposite the museum, excellent French food and a very laid back atmosphere.

avoid the wine museum unless you’re genuinely clueless about wine, it was aimed at kids really.

you can do lovely river cruises.

Brilliant tips! Thank you both. Airbnb is our plan... have bookmarked a few but not decided @PigOnStiIts which one did you use?

Tbh, budget is key- this is a cheeky extra hol so being as careful as possible with £s
