My first time going on a holiday on a plane and we're going here in December has anyone ever been what's it like and what's the weather like over there in December times?

I haven't been to that hotel but I've been to Lanzarote plenty of times in December as we used to go each year for DP's birthday. It's mostly good weather, nice temperature, around mid-20s. It's a windy island so sometimes the sun can catch you off guard and you end up burnt! The mornings usually start cloudy, and I remember our first few times there we'd feel disappointed in the mornings, until we learnt that was just the behaviour of the weather there. The clouds generally cleared by lunchtime.

We've had one or two days of rain in December but it's never been full days, and it blows over quickly.

I love Lanzarote. Have a great time xx

Thankyouuu for your help xxxx

I just thought because it's winter over here In December I thought it was over there lol I'm going with my 2 year old son too I'm worried about being able to occupy him for 4 hours without him getting bored on the plane not only is it his first time it's mine too so I don't even have anything to go off
Also I don't know how it all works but someone mentioned to me that I'd have to take all my makeup and shower gels etc in clear bottles and I'm only allowed to take so much of everything and have to put them in clear bags that's stressing me too lol do you have any advice on what I need to do with that

@bubblesummerxx Have you booked hand luggage only? If you have, then your friend is right that you can only take 100ml bottles of liquid. The bottles themselves don't need to be clear, but they need to go inside a clear bag for scanning. Although if ever I go hand luggage only, I order my toiletries to Boots at the airport on Click and Collect so I can get a full size bottle and it saves the hassle of needing to sort it all at security.

Take a pram with you. It's free to take and it makes the airport so much easier. They usually fast track you through security, and also you fast track through passport queues with a pram.

For the flight, do you have a tablet you can download shows on? We download some Netflix programmes onto the tablet so they work without internet, then we take along a colouring book, plenty of snacks (so expensive in the airport), and you can get little magnetic jigsaws from The Works which are good. Although I found with my son, after being awake so early for the airport, he slept on the flight for a couple of hours so there wasn't much entertainment needed. Xx

When I first went to Lanzarote a couple of years ago, I found this website very helpful. It's run by an English couple, Mike and Julie, who've lived in Lanzarote for over 20 years. This week's video features a walk along part of the promenade in Playa Blanca.

From your hotel it's about a 20 minute walk to the sea front, but it will be a pleasant walk in warm weather! If you don't want to walk, you could get the number 30 bus which stops on the road outside your hotel - the bus stop name is Virginia Park, you come out the hotel, turn right, walk a very short distance (less than a minute) and you'll see the bus stop. There's a bus every half hour.

Here's a link to the bus company website.

I love Lanzarote - am going back in October/November this year and can't wait!

Hi Op, I have been to playa Blanca multiple times during summer and winter months and stayed at Paradise island about 2 years ago. The pool will be very very cold so would recommend getting a wetsuit for your little one and a dry robe (equivalent) for when they come out. The hotel is on a hill and about a 25 min walk to flamingo beach and about a 30/40 min walk to the main town. There is however a taxi rank just outside and it is around 5 Euros to get there. The hotel has a supermarket on site which is helpful as there are no bars or restaurants next to you.

The Dini Waterpark at the hotel is ok but if you wanted to visit the Aqua Lava waterpark about a 15 min walk go after 3pm and it's much cheaper. It does close around 5/6 but a few hours is more than enough.

Hi i have this hotel booked what did you think of it I'm bit wary now by reading the reviews. Xx

Mamofteenager · 06/10/2024 19:02

@Tiamiine I think this hotel is like marmite, lots love it but lots don't rate it at all. It was a few years ago that I stayed here but I am still on a Facebook review page and reviews are always a mixed bag.

My own opinion was that it is fine, our rooms were clean and the food was ok. Same days more choice than others but always found something. My main turn off was that there is no bars/restaurants or shops immediately around the hotel so was a pain if needed something and the onsite shop had closed.

Playa Blanca is a lovely place and I'm sure you will enjoy
