Advice re checkin

I haven't flown for nearly 20 yrs, flight is 6.40am, taxi booked for 4am, I'll get to the airport about 4.30am, flying with jet2.

Please reassure me this is plenty of time, I'm driving myself batshit. Seems daft pulling taxi forward if its not needed.

You're fine but if it's Birmingham check what state queues are this week as was bad a few weeks ago.

Have you not checked in online? Then you drop your bags at the airport

fuzzwuss · 15/08/2024 20:08

Is it check in though, or do you just have to do baggage drop. Would you be able to do an online check in before getting to the airport?

Going to Newcastle, checked in online, just putting cases in.

I should be excited! Not paranoid!!😂

Seems like I should be fine!

That's plenty of time. Newcastle is a small airport and the taxi should take you pretty much to the door.

The only caveat being that many airports have a paid drop off area so unless your taxi company has a 'season ticket' with the airport they might either want to take you to a free drop off area a few minutes walk away, or have you pay the drop off charge (usually a few pounds) but that depends on the exact arrangements at Newcastle and the taxi company you're using.

Make sure you understand the liquids rules, Newcastle has the new scanners which should mean you aren't limited on volume and don't need to unpack but there's been a lot of issues with these so you need to be prepared to work with the 100 ml limits - if you're on a Jet2 package, you have hold luggage included so easier to put all your liquids in the hold.

Have an amazing holiday, it should all be fab, Jet2 are a great airline and tour operator, really good compared with Tui and Ryanair/Easyjet.
