Lake District / Dumfries and Galloway campsite

I'm looking for a campsite for the bank holiday weekend in or around the Lake District or Dumfries and Galloway region. Ideally looking for a secluded and basic campsite in a picturesque location. Walking distance to a nice pub would be a bonus, but no on site entertainment / pool / bar. Does anyone know if any hidden gems?

I've been to Ballochodee and Hensol Estate sites in Galloway and enjoyed both. Don't think either are walking distance to a pub though - that really is this holy grail 😁

Solway View just outside of kirkubright fits the bill apart from the pub! There is one you could drive to in 5 mins or so, but then obviously someone is driving!

In the southern lake district we enjoyed our stay at Moss Howe Farm last month, it's a small and quiet site. 1.8 mile walk to the nearest pub apparently!

Turner Hall campsite in Dunnerdale, I haven't stayed there but want to and I love the area. Very remote and beautiful. 0.7 miles to the pub in Seathwaite.

Rydal Hall campsite is in the grounds of a hotel near Grasmere. Excellent location. Walked through it last month and it was idyllic, loads of space between tents.

Check out Hollows Farm camp site in Borrowdale. Stunning and secluded.

Thanks for these suggestions. I'll check them out.

Came on to say Rydal Hall and I've been beaten to it! It's a lovely quiet site.
