Rhodes - need recommendations

Hi,
I'm booking a 10-11 day holiday in September in Rhodes. I am wondering what area is best to stay and if anyone has any recommendations for hotels?

A bit more info - I am going with my Mum. We've both had a bit of a hard time and are really looking forward to having a holiday. We both love eating out and trying local places. We want to explore the history and culture that Rhodes has to offer and mix it with a bit of relaxation so we don't have to be in the centre of it all just easy enough to have a range of places to eat and easy to explore since we won't be hiring a car.

Any recommendations would be really appreciated!

Thanks

Lindos is beautiful

I second Lindos, I was there last month and it meets your criteria based on what you said above.

We stayed in Kalithea which is only a short bus ride (maybe 30 mins max) to Rhodes Town which is lovely to stroll around of an evening.

Lindos is lovely but very busy, I wouldn't want to stay there though. We prefer Pefkos, lovely resort, easy to get to Lindos and from there easy to get to Rhodes town with is also beautiful. Matina apartments were our favourites but this was pre COVID.

I went to pefkos in June. It's a manmade resort, no history no nice tavernas etc, very much tailored to the British, and run by Albania Ian's, not Greeks. nothing wrong with any of this if you want safe and familiar. I would recommend Stegna, traditional village, lovely tavernas, an authentic Greek experience

Rhodes town is fabulous. I’d be happy there. There’s endless history in the old town, there’s an interesting harbour, plenty of bars and restaurants etc. Rhodes isn’t a big island, hire a car and explore. Lindos is quaint and worth a visit. Head down to where the two seas meet, it’s beautiful. You’ll love it.

Pefkos is lovely. I've been more times than I can count.
Yes it's man made resort but most of the bars and restaurants are run by Greeks so I'm unsure why the previous poster thinks otherwise.

Lindos view hotel in lindos is lovely and a short walk (down a steep hill) into the village.

Lindos won't be crazy busy in September. It'll be much quieter than July and August, the weather will also be a bit cooler which would be nice. Lindos is insanely hot in July and August.

Casa Cook - beautiful hotel. Perfect for your type of stay.

Thanks everyone! I had originally thought about staying in Ixia / Illyssos so thinking maybe splitting between there and Lindos so we can do Rhodes Town while staying in Ixia etc and then have a bit more of a relax and go to the other side for the acropolis around Lindos.

This is just because we won't be hiring a car when there due to my mum being nervous driver and I do not have a licence.
