Passport name error

Hi Guys, I hope someone can assist me with below if they had a similar issue.

I had a error in my name on my first British passport which I received last year in Jan 23. I have only realized it in June 24 so I called the passport office. Upon getting the advice over the phone from them, I have made a new application (paper) via post and sent a note along with it to explain the error. I forgot to the note of this application number. 😞

It has been over 2 weeks since I have applied and have not heard anything back at all. I called the passport office to check if they have received any documents and they said they haven't got my application. I explained it to them that upon the advice I have given I sent the application pack to my local passport office (Birmingham). I was then told that I shouldn't have sent that to Birmingham and it was a wrong advice. It should either posted to Liverpool or Durham's address. I then went to the Birmingham office and they have stated they can't give me any information however if they receive any documents like that they usually send them straight to the London office.

I have now opened up another enquiry with lost & stolen department since I don't know where my passport is now.

Can someone please suggest or advise on what more can I do ? Thank you

@PSBLUE

Did you send your passport to the Passport Office using one of the Royal Mail's Signed For options, OP?

If you're hitting a dead end, MPs often will send a message to the passport office to ask to speed things up.

@PSBLUE

Have you made a complaint to the Passport Office?

I think that you will need to submit an identifiable complaint to the Passport Office before any higher levels of intervention can be engaged, such as the Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman via your MP.

I would advise completing the Passport Enquiries form being sure to choose 'Complaint' in the Subject of Your Enquiry field.

Hey Hun, I have registered a complaint with them. It is under investigation at the moment. I haven't heard anything back from them though
