Madeira - single parent, 2 pre-teens

Looking at Madeira for summer 2025. 2 daughters will be 12, nearly 13 and 10. The weather is drawing me as I don't cope well with very hot weather.
Any pros/cons? Which resort? Hotel recommendations? Things to do? Or is it best to look elsewhere with kids that age?
Thanks

Depends on your daughters. If they like hiking, surfing, amazing scenery, rafting, paddle boarding etc.. then it would be great. If they prefer sandy beaches, amusement parks, shopping, interactive museums etc.., then perhaps not.

Madeira is hot in the summer.

Go hiking the llevadas, but summer will be hot for that. In Madeira it is the nature that shouldn’t be missed.

Aim to stay in Porto Moniz.
They will be in the pools all day every day.

Day trip to Funchal to do the cable cars

Have a hire car so you can fit around the weather
