Help! We booked a 3 night family break in Holland last week. Due to fly out later today. DS has become ill overnight distant - V and D. He’s very weak also. I took out short trip travel insurance. If we are unable to go.Will I be able to claim back the costs of flights and accommodation around 2k? Any idea what I need to do? Thank you. 😥

Hi, I use to work in travel claims and by experience you would need a letter from doctor to say not fit to travel to be covered for the cancellation.

Thanks @Gabby10 would V and D be accepted by travel insurance companies?

Yes as long as this isn't linking to a pre-existing condition that hasn't been declared although I'd 100% check the policy booklet, it could potentially be an exclusion if it's a really cheap policy.

Read your documents and the policy!! All travel insurance is different.

A PP is right though. Would likely need a med certificate.
