Will love holiday send debt collection

I recently booked a family holiday with love holidays to a 5 star resort, I have only paid the initial £100 deposit. In the last week loads of terrible reviews showing broken tiles and smashed windows and uncooked food have been added so obviously I complained to love holidays and they say I’m still responsible for the cancellation fee of £1500, what happens if I don’t pay this amount and they can’t take it.
like I said I haven’t actually paid for the holiday yet… any advice on what they would do apart from cancel??? Having a massive panic that I’ve ruined my kids holiday and cost myself thousands

It might be sensible to check direct with hotel that your booking has been made and paid for , and any of the issues resolved. Often the responses on TA or similar platforms do not come across well as it is not written as a native English speaker would.

Is this 5* hotel in Crete by any chance? If so we’ve just been, it’s the first and very last time we’ll be using LH.
