Just wondering if anyone can help advise on the best/fun things to do in London with my daughter. Planning to go in September a few days before she turns 6.

We arrive in London 09:30 with Matilda the musical booked for 14:00 (finishes at 16:30) Our train home is 18:30.

Definitely want to visit Hamleys and I know she wants to see Big Ben... any other recommendations please, fun things to do and fun places to eat maybe? TIA :)

Horrible Histories boat trip is brilliant.

I wouldn’t try and cram in too much, the HH boat trip is great but a bit of a big thing to do before going to see a musical in the afternoon. You won’t have as much time as you think!
What station do you arrive at as recommendations are better based on that.

Agree with this it's excellent

Natural History Museum and the Aquarium are great.

Dd loved the science museum at that age.

I don’t think you will have much time to do much more than Hamleys, Big Ben and Matilda to be honest! Getting around London isn’t quick.

I wouldn’t try to fit in too much - just getting around London with a young child can be tiring (for both of you!) if you’re not used to it. Which train station do you get into?

rainforest cafe is great for her age.

Lego store, M&M store (opposite each other) in Leicester Square are good fun too.

FanofLeaves · 05/08/2024 14:19

i’m not sure the rainforest cafe exists anymore. Think it was a covid casualty.

Oh it is still open, was due to close to build a hotel.

Thank you. Sorry we are kings cross for arrival and departure station.

I have been having a look at either bubble planet or paradox museum first thing and then maybe lunch in Covent Garden and watch some street entertainers before the show and then try and squeeze seeing big ben in before we get the train home.

I am tempted to get the next train at 20:00 so that we can do more. It's only an extra £18. It will be a long day for her but she could fall asleep on a washing line so she will definitely sleep on the train on the way home.

You won't be able to see Big Ben, but you can see Elizabeth tower 😜
