Tell me your dream holiday? Can’t decide where to go

I’m looking to book a holiday for an upcoming big birthday, but I don’t know where to go! My top choices at the moment are either Seychelles- blue sky/blue sea/snorkelling or an arctic cruise from Vancouver- I’d love to see orcas or narwhals or even polar bears!
I’m going as a single adult with two kids who will be 11 and 9 at the time, so need something that is child friendly and nothing too dangerous. Has anyone done either of these places and would you recommend/advise to avoid?

Lastly, we’ve done a lot of Europe recently, and have a trip to Africa booked with the larger family for next year. I’ve done a lot of Asia and not really too keen on going back there (although I did love Japan!)

so hit me with your dream holidays!

My dream trip is Costa Rica. Planning for next year currently! So much to see and do.

@massistar why Costa Rica? I’ve not thought of there, the only thing I know about it is they have tarantulas?

I was going to say Costa Rica, volcano, hot springs, cloud forest and tree top trails and zip lining, wildlife walks, then off to the Pacific coast and more nature and wildlife as well as beaches. I haven’t been.

but Pacific north west coast could also be good. Vancouver island, see bears and orcas. I’d love to stay at Great Bear Lodge. Maybe over to the Rockies.

Another to suggest Costa Rica!

massistar · 05/08/2024 11:47

Yep all of the things that @CormorantStrikesBack mentions plus surfing. I am not going to think about tarantulas.

Costa Rica is sounding good! Is it suitable for kids to do those things?

You’d have to check specific zip lines but I’m sure a lot of it is child friendly. There’s whale watching boat trips on the Pacific coast as well. It’s quite common to have a 2 or even 3 centre holiday. So central near the volcano and cloud forest and pacific coast but you could add Caribbean coast as well and see turtles.
