Fast track child's passport - has anyone had any experience of getting this in less than a week???

We go away on Friday 9th and I've just pulled out passports out but realised I've got the wrong year for my son's and it runs out whilst we are away... I thought it was until 2025, I feel like a complete idiot! I've just booked a fast track appointment on Tuesday afternoon, but I'm wondering if the 7 day is accurate if if there's any miracle it could arrive before midday Friday?! Don't know whether to change my ferry booking now or hold my breath and wait. Luckily we are campervanning and don't have our first site booked until the 12th, but still thinking I might need to change that too!

Any advice or experience to help me from having a complete breakdown whilst waiting would be most welcome!

Thank you!

I did my son's fast track about two weeks ago. I dropped it at Liverpool on the Monday morning and got it back by post Thursday morning so you might be ok.
Good luck 🤞

This happened to me a few years ago. We were flying out on Saturday. Noticed on Monday that my sons passport had expired. I was in a panic as the kids were young and so excited about going away.

I managed to get a fast track appointment in Durham on Tuesday morning (drove up there overnight from London) and the passport arrived by courier on Friday morning.

Have you checked if there are any appointments available for fast track?

Good luck!

Sorry I just saw that you have an appointment on Tuesday.

Please try not to worry. I hope the passport arrives on time.

To make things harder his birth certificate is at his dad's and he's on holiday until later this week! It doesn't say I'll need it on the documents section for this kind of renewal, did they ask you for it? I've ordered a replacement copy just incase so I have one, but again no idea when that will arrive.

Renewal won't need a birth certificate. You'll need a countersignature. Other threads with the same issue have taken longer than 3 days for the passport to arrive.
