Avomine for child travel sickness?

DS10 gets travel sick. Kwells work well for a car trip of a few hours, but he struggles when we go on holiday and have a couple hours of train/tube followed by a long haul flight. Kwells seem to wear off after about 4 hours, and he's not supposed to take more for another couple hours.

This year, I'm also armed with Avomine and Stugeron. I'm thinking about trying Avomine, since it sounds good for long trips, but I'm having trouble figuring out when to give it to him. If I give it the night before, we'll still be flying 24 hours later… so it might wear off and he might need to take more during the flight? Or, I could give it a couple hours before we leave, which sounds like it should last the duration of the travel. But I also see some people on here saying it knocks them out. I'm worried he'll be asleep when we're changing trains and going through the airport.

I'm also a little worried about the statement in the leaflet that "children may become over excited while taking this product."😂

I'm curious, if anyone here has used Avomine for their kid, did it make them super sleepy or super excited?

We've used Sturgeron for a few years for DD - take two hours before travel and lasts 8 hours. Then you can give another dose.

This is the only one we've found has worked and was originally recommended and prescribed by GP as DD was only aged 4.

How old is he?

Sorry, I see you've said that he's 10.

I'd give him 10mg promethazine, which is the active ingredient in Avomine.

Thanks all. We tried Avomine on the flight out and Stugeron on the return. I think Stugeron might have worked better, but they both helped. And neither made him either terribly sleepy or overly excited.
