2 adults, 1 x 3yr old, 1x 8yr old

Max £2000 (with spending money on top of this)

Haven't been abroad since 2015.

Would prefer somewhere quietish or less touristy/Brits abroad

Beachy but a nice town or two to wander around in

Any ideas?

Do you want a hotel or self catering? In terms of the Med it will all still be hot, places we like with kids and easy flights/transfers are -

Pollensa/Puerto Pollensa in Mallorca
Antibes in South of France
Estepona in Andalusia

£2000:

  • for how many nights,
  • on what board basis
  • and does the cost of the flights have to come out of that?

Cambrils in Spain (fly to Reus). It’s quieter and less tacky than its neighbour, Salou, and there are a few day trips nearby for the dc. The old town is really nice.

Have a look at Hotel Monica. It has a great view, it’s very central and family-friendly, yet doesn’t have any raucous organised activities or entertainment- just a grassy garden with a decent sized pool and shallow kids pool. https://www.hotelmonica.com/en/monica-hotel/

You're going to have to choose the flights really carefully (and/or pack light) to come in under that budget. 6 nights half board in a quad room at the hotel mentioned by @Forgottenmyphone is about £1400, and that doesn't seem like an expensive place to me. Good luck!
