Hello
For some reason I always struggle packing for holidays, never having the right clothes . Do you have a plan what you take ? I'm thinking this time to plan an outfit a day , maybe that will help but your ideas would be helpful please

This won't help you much now but my best tip is to write down what you wish you'd packed at the end of a holiday in preparation for next year. You think you'll remember but you never do!

Can you look back at photos to help jog your memory?

Packing dresses and swimwear is about the easiest option. Pack only colours that go with each other if you're doing separates. Some layers. I never wear my smarter clothes on holiday always more casual than you think.

How many days?
Is it a beach/pool holiday or city break?
Abroad?
Hold luggage or hand luggage?

I'm just about to pack to go home after a week!
Pair of knickers per day, plus a couple of spares
Teeshirt per day
Couple of nicer tops to go out in
2 pairs of shorts
2 skirts (nb nearly all teeshirts go with all the bottoms)
2 swimming costumes
2 pairs trainer socks (not used)
Towel
Sandals
Cleaning stuff
Phone
Kindle
Chargers and adapters (there are 4 of us)
Teabags
Passport and paperwork (GHIC, insurance, hire car details, villa details)
Travel in: trainers, linen trousers, trainers, teeshirt, light jumper.

I have a holiday list that I add to/subtract from each year. Depends how long you are going for and whether you have washing facilities. Always take extra pants!

It all depends. 2 years ago we went to Greece so it was only summer wear, more T-shrts and underwear than days we were there, several pair of shorts as we went out quite often. Choose things which all go together.

Be realistic how many pair of shoes you really need.

I got my period and soiled some shorts and used the laundry service and the hotel screwed up, it took 2 days longer for the items to come back, a disaster. So next time more shorts.

But I am also a person who always put a large suitcase in the hold and is not a light packer.

This year we are in Germany and I will have to cater for mix weather. But I have washing machines and dryer in the flat.

We go super light packing as I notice we only tend to wear the same few things but this is for sightseeing not beach.
My DD lays out her bottoms and tops to make a capsule wardrobe before she packs.
3 bottoms Shorts/skirt/loose trousers.
Dress x2
Swimwear
5 tops
Undies
1 nicer evening outfit/top or dress
Hat/sunnies
Toiletries
Sandals & Trainers on feet.

This year for 8 days mixed pool/sightseeing I am taking

2 x shorts
2 x skirts
5 tops
3 sundresses
2 nice dresses
Flip flops
Nice sandals
Swimwear and coverups
Undies
Trainer socks
Nightie
Toiletry bag
Makeup bag
Fold up beach bag

This fits into 3 packing cubes plus a bag for my footwear. I can get it all in a small suitcase.

Travelling in trainers, linen trousers and a T-shirt.

I like to pack light. Summer flights to hot destinations tend to have massive queues for hold baggage so I just take carry on.

I favour loose dresses, a couple for day/pool/beach, maybe 3/4 more dressier for evening or sightseeing. saves bother with matching tops to bottoms. I travel in trainers and pack one pair sandals and one pair flip-flops. 2/3 pair knickers as I wash whilst there. One pair trainer socks, ditto. Two items of swimwear and lightweight cover-up. Fly there are back in same lightweight trousers and long sleeve top, don't wear it whilst I'm away usually.
