Landals in the Netherlands…help!

Hidingplace · 30/07/2024 20:50

Hi, end of August we are doing five nights at CP Het Meerdal for 5 nights (have been before for a short stay) and then want to go somewhere else for 4 nights.

Kiddies are 5 and nearly 1.

Was thinking of trying a Landal -
Anyone been to Landal Rabbit Hill, Landal Migglenburg or Landal de Reeuwijkse Plassen?

Or can recommend any gems in the Netherlands/Belgium/North France? Either Landal/CPs or something like this.

Was interested to try a Landal as they seem so cheap! We need a lodge/chalet rather than a tent as daughter is rather loud. Feel like we need somewhere with a decent indoor play area and pool in case of rubbish weather.

Thanks all!

Not been but looks lovely! 😻

Look at Duinrell - it's a great holiday with kids.

Forgottenmyphone · 31/07/2024 05:53

Beekse Bergen is fantastic!

CherryMaple · 31/07/2024 06:00

De Reeuwijkse Plassen is our favourite Landal - we’ve stayed twice and would happily go back again.

Needapadlockonmyfridge · 31/07/2024 06:57

Not been to those ones but have done other Landals and had a great time. Really good value.

MissAmbrosia · 31/07/2024 11:41

Hoog Vaals is my favourite. Loads to do nearby.

Hi I've done a couple of landals in the NL - including landal de Reeuwijkse plassen. It's fantastic, really recommend it; holiday chalets are amazing and going at the end of August is especially cheap as the Dutch children are generally back in school

We took an inflatable kayak which I really recommend as we could access the canals from our chalet. The 'chalet' is huge; the size of a 4 or 5 bedroom house and beautifully decorated (see picture). There was a beautiful lake nearby which was good for outdoor swimming, and we hired bikes to cycle into nearby towns. Lots of beautiful countryside and wildlife

Was one of the best holidays we have taken

Contact the women who run Little Clogs Holidays - they will advise you on the best place for your needs. They were so helpful sorting out our holiday this year. They earn through affiliate links so just book by clicking through to Landal from the Little Clogs site.

We went to Migglenberg last year. Loved it for the price! Accommodation nicely spaced out on the forest, woth lots of little play parks scattered around.
Indoors there is a small soft play, bowling, and a pool (not CP level) but had a little lazy river, slide, rain shower thing.
Outdoors there was a huge play area, kids farm, adventure golf, mini jeeps, jumping pillow. It was very close to the the national park, so we drove over to the park entrance and made use of the free white bikes that are included with the entry fee. There are sculptures and museum in the park too. In nearby villages there were lo letcafes, bakeries amd pancake houses.
I think other Landal are also good/even better.

Thanks for the tips everyone! They do seem like they’re incredibly good value!
I guess I’m just interested in those that have a few inside activities, like decent play area and pool in case of rain! Obviously being the Netherlands I imagine weather will be quite similar to here so thought back up options would be a good plan.
Still haven’t booked but will soon…I hope!

Bit of hijack but has anyone been to De Lommerbergen or Het Vennerbos? The water parks look brilliant.

Hidingplace · 06/08/2024 15:50

@CherryMaple and@Regalhen Very specific questions about De Reeuwijkse Plassen!
Are the chalets like proper houses? They look like the might be quite ‘open’ I.e. the downstairs and upstairs very open?
What are indoors facilities like in case if bad weather? Is indoor play centre and pool decent? Son only 5 so doesn’t need to be amazing but more than something basic would be good. Thanks for any advice!

It would depend which model of house you opted for I think. The one we stayed in (same both years) had open plan living on the ground floor, with two bedrooms in the basement and one on the first floor. It worked really well.

The pool was good. We didn’t use any sort of indoor play.

Hidingplace · 08/08/2024 21:56

@CherryMaple Thanks! The accommodation looks really good, which is what drew me to it.

@Hidingplace the chalet we stated in wasn't that open plan; there was a mezzanine level in the living room area to the first floor; but all bedrooms had doors and at least some of the bedrooms had en suite bathrooms. It didn't feel too open plan - the kitchen opens up to the living area but it feels like a separate room - will see if I have a picture

There was a fairly good indoor pool which we used and it wasn't busy at all. I'm not sure if there were other facilities like soft play as we liked chilling in the chalet and hired bikes to explore the area.

We've been to Het Vennonbos twice now and we really rate it for kids. The pool is brilliant, slides, lazy river and splash area etc. there's a soft play plus petting farm and maze. There's also a pizza vending machine which was a highlight 🤣 Close to Efteling theme park too.

The accommodation is pretty basic though.

BatsInSpring · 10/08/2024 19:15

We have been to De Twee Bruggen twice (gorgeous) and Duinrell (madness! Lots of fun, wouldn't go back). We are soon off to Terspegelt.
I recommend De Twee Bruggen especially for your children"s ages.

Vettrianofan · 10/08/2024 19:30

This theme park was recommended by a Dutch friend today. Looks beautiful 😍 Theme park

ToriMJ · 10/08/2024 19:32

Efteling is brilliant!

We're off to De Twee Bruggen and Beekse Bergen soon....can't wait and feel like it'll b e the start of a love affair with the Netherlands.

It was for us! This is our 3rd year...
I haven't been to Beekse Bergen but absolutely loved De Twee Bruggen, it holds a piece of my heart.
Before Terspegelt we have an overnight booked at Efteling.

Emarosa · 10/08/2024 19:54

I grew up in the Netherlands, but haven’t been to a Landal. I second the Efteling… it’s amazing! There’s also a great Miffy museum in Utrecht that should be suitable for both kids.

if you go to the Reeuwijkse Plassen you should definitely take a day trip to Gouda. It’s where a lot of Dutch cheese comes from. On Thursdays they host a cheese auction with traditional dress and lots of markets.

De Twee Bruggen is fantastic - had an absolute bargain holiday there and loved it. The lake is great!
