Special assistance and cancelled flights

Has anyone had their flights cancelled when flying with people with additional needs? I’ve found special assistance to be super helpful navigating the airport, and wondering if they help too when attempting to navigate cancelled flights should the worst happen? My previous experience (when flying without people was additional needs) was that it was extremely chaotic trying to get onto the coach and to the hotel, and I’d never manage it without help. Just trying to put my mind at rest as first time flying solo with children with additional needs (planned support fell through). Thanks!

I worked at Heathrow and yes they’d help you onto the coach to hotel but not the other end!

assistance would be rebooked for the next flights automatically!

Also if needed I’ve authorised taxis to hotels for people who couldn’t manage the coach- if the worse happens ask the staff and explain your situation and they’ll try and help all they can!!

Also we had a special hotel for wheelchair and additional needs customers which was nearer so always worth an ask what their arrangements are as those rooms will be given at management discretion and ills always have given them to a lone traveller or family with additional needs customers in their party!!

Most of us did our best to help where we could but like everything it all depends who you get on the day!!
