City break advice with a 1 year old

We are going to a European city for a weekend in Oct so our baby will have just turned 1. We have a wedding on the Sat, so don’t have loads of time to enjoy the city and explore. It’s fairly expensive so not a city we are likely to visit again in the near future.

We haven’t flown with her before so just looking for a bit of advice! Our travel options are:

  • Fly out late Thurs evening (flight is at 20.30 and lands local time 23.30). It’s a late flight but means we can wake up there on a Fri. This is the earliest we could fly because of work commitments.
  • Fly out mid morning on the Friday (landing local time around 12.00). This flight might be easier but means we only have half a day.

We would then fly back Sunday afternoon.

Baby is generally pretty good with sleep and quite flexible with her routine, but don’t know if we are being crazy/stupid for considering the later flight?!

If she’s flexible and good with her sleep, I’d go for the later flight on Thursday.

Just do it. Baby will sleep. If anything it's possibly better to fly late rather than being awake. We had a backpack for DS at that age and just stuck him in that and went everywhere we could. He slept.
