I’m looking for some advice really, I’m thinking of doing a short solo trip at the start of September (3 nights) I’m in my early 40’s and just wondered if anyone had any recommendations for someone that’s safe for someone on their own

What sort of thing do you like?
the place that sprang to my mind when I read your OP was Berlin. I had a fab time there on my own.

Do you have any ideas yet? I would go to most places in Europe on my own. Maybe a city as I'd want lots to look at.

@Emma43up

Why don't you start with where you would like to go and see if there is any reason why you shouldn't go there?
I can't imagine there is anywhere that you could get to reasonably for a short break that is inherently unsafe. All places have their down sides - you just need to be sensible about what you do.
Having said that I went to Copenhagen a few weeks ago with my son. I'd definitely be happy to go there on my own and will probably do so.
Two hour flight and it takes 15 minutes to get from the airport to central Copenhagen. Lovely city, very chilled out, lots to do
Have a great time wherever you go

Thanks so much everyone for replying! I feel that I like a nice beach and pool but quite interested in looking round places too, I think I'm just a bit worried about what to do on an evening. It will be the first time I've been away by myself but recently have become single and just want to be away

@Emma43up
I don't have an issue with eating out on my own but don't much enjoy it in the evenings. So I tend to have a good breakfast in the hotel and a late lunch so I'm not looking for dinner out, but stay out all day if I can.
In Copenhagen we went to the Tivoli Gardens one night - I wouldn't have minded having food and a drink there on my own. Also went for a walk down to the Waterfront to see the Little Mermaid

Thanks Ted27- I've never been to Copenhagen so defo going to look into it!

How about Barcelona? Awesome beach as well as lots to do in the city.

Palma.
Went a couple of years ago with DH who was so ill he couldn’t leave the room at the start of the holiday. I really enjoyed exploring the town and taking a dip in the rooftop pool by myself. There’s so much to see and the public transport is excellent if you wanted to venture out of Palma.

Boston, Copenhagen, Reykjavik, Seville.

I spend my days sightseeing then evenings reading at 'home'. I'm not much of a drinker and not interested in bars/pubs unless I'm in company.

I know you said you like a beach but Prague and Budapest are awesome. Prague is full of history and we go twice a year to visit the opera, Budapest has amazing spas that are super cheap. Both are great for solo travellers, pick a hotel with a pool and a rooftop bar and it would be lovely. We are off back to Prague in October and we are fortunate that its a ballet at the Statni, £138 for 4 tickets in a private box!
